Compass Land Surveyors is looking for qualified new team members to joining our growing company. These positions work on projects for public agencies, private clients, and engineering companies. Work may be performed under all weather conditions and may involve working on busy streets, construction sites, difficult terrain and difficult slopes. Work may require lifting, climbing, bending, stooping, standing for extended durations and walking long distances.

We are hiring for the following positions (updated July, 2021):


SENIOR SURVEYOR

MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Oregon Professional Land Surveyor’s License (PLS) 
  • Associate or Bachelor of Science degree in Land Surveying or Equivalent
  • 5 years minimum surveying experience with transportation, utility, residential development, retail/commercial/industrial site development and construction projects
  • Knowledgeable in the use and operation of survey equipment including Leica Robotic Total Stations and data collectors in support of the survey crews
  • Project management
  • Ability to meet project deadlines and budgets
  • Experience supervising, organizing, and managing field crews
  • Ability to develop and maintain client relationships
  • Preparation of estimates, proposals and invoices
  • Knowledgeable in all phases of land surveying and map preparation, including land surveying techniques, principles of boundary control, and construction surveying
  • Knowledgeable in the laws and regulations pertaining to land surveying in Oregon
  • Land surveying technical skills, including ALTA/ACSM surveys, platting, land development, ROW surveys, preliminary design surveys, topo surveys, construction staking, deed research, survey map research, and good organizational skills
  • Knowledge and use of AutoCAD Civil 3D software
  • Ability to work efficiently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines

JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee completion of survey projects for boundary, topographic, ALTA surveys, subdivisions, partitions and property descriptions
  • Research and develop work plans for survey projects
  • Perform survey, deed and utility research
  • Preparation of final maps; including record of surveys, plats, topographic maps and ALTA surveys
  • Preparation of legal descriptions
  • Coordinate with survey crews to accomplish project goals
  • Actively assist with the mapping process when necessary
  • Provide leadership in preparation of various mapping projects
  • Manage, supervise and train field and office staff for efficient completion of projects
  • Participate in business development opportunities
  • Estimate and budget man-hours for survey projects, review monthly job costing report for invoicing and project management
  • Import field survey data and export survey data for field work
  • Perform office calculations and support field survey crews for construction staking and property monumentation
  • Adhere to company workflows, standards and procedures

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Hours: Typically 40± hours per week
  • Wages: Depending on experience
